  • It was announced on 12th June 2019 that CAF has been awarded a £350 million contract to construct and provide technical support for 43 new trains for the Docklands Light Railway. 33 of the trains will replace the oldest of the current B90 and B92 stock units, while ten will provide additional capacity. The trains will include real time travel information, air conditioning, USB device charging points, and extra luggage and wheelchair space. Complete delivery is set for 2024 with an option for up to 34 more units. There is a separate £100 million procurement underway for expansion of Beckton depot and replacement of the substation and train washing equipment. In 2018 the DLR carried 121.8 million passengers, an increase of over 65% since 2010.
